Finally read the much-maligned letter to the editor that people have been referencing. Although I agree that whom you marry, if you choose to marry, will affect your happiness the key emphasis for me is always IF you choose to marry. It’s wrong, I think, to tell someone that wanting to get married and have children is anti-feminist — feminism is about women’s right to be whatever they want and not to be treated lesser for it. But the whole “if I had daughters this is what I would tell them” part just bothers me, not to mention that this entire article seems …incredibly class-biased. Also both my experiences from when I was an undergrad and from teaching undergrad these days make me suspect whether or not everyone, at that age, is ready for marriage.

So this morning I woke up and thought, “You know what I’d love to see? A genderbender version of INCEPTION” and lo, tumblr already has various fancasts to help me visualize it.

On its own INCEPTION already has the one of the most fascinating premise I’ve seen recently, and plot holes aside it’s visually SPECTACULAR and the pacing is great so now, think about it:

What if the story is about a middle aged mom forced to do less than legal things, while haunted by the violent ghost of her husband (and it’s the loving husband who lost his grip on sanity?), while doing everything in her power to try to get back to her kids? (Is it me or does this remind you of something?)

What if the sharpshooter / researcher pointman is a woman who decided to stick with her best friend through thick and thin to make sure she doesn’t accidentally end up dead in her grief and less-than-sane state of mind? And we had a female scientist who was developing the new sedative and keeping an eye over an underground bunker of dreamers?

What if the most newest member of the team is a talented boy who’s recruited out of college and the ladies have to show him the ropes?

Isn’t it fascinating to think about?

This is one of my favorite moments in the entire series.

This bit always makes me snicker a bit because sometimes I have this perception of Holmes being this aloof and melodramatic personality that’s…almost unreal, almost a caricature of what normal people can be, and then I read quips like this and he comes crashing down to earth to reality because lol vanity. (I mean he’s still over the top but his character seems a lot more 3-D and real this way.)

“Tumblr employees have been told that the company only has enough funds to operate for a few more months, as its costs far exceed the limited revenue it earns. Tumblr pulled in $13 million in 2012, but has accelerated its advertising offering in hopes of hitting $100 million in revenue this year. The money’s not coming in fast enough to support its expenses though. Employees were recently told not to be concerned, though, because the company is expecting to be bought.”
